Come dance simple social dances to live music at our balfolk workshop. You don’t need to come with a partner, and each dance will be taught. All ages welcome.
What is Balfolk?
Balfolk Dance is a social dance. It regained momentum in the 1970s in France and other western European countries as a revival of the folk dances. So it is an umbrella term that includes many dances from many different regions. There are group and couple dances. There is no need to come with a partner as it is customary to dance with a new partner each dance (and some dances don’t need a partner). Anyone may ask anyone to dance, and ‘yes’ and ‘no’ without explanation are equally valued responses. The dances are generally very simple as to be quite inclusive.
We encourage all ages to come and we look forward to seeing you there!
