Join Stephanie Keon of The Fibre Nest to play with cloth, wool, and thread!
Needle-play is a low-stakes exploration: follow your whims, celebrate colour, texture, and shape, and open yourself up to try a new skill or technique while making something unique!
Stephanie offers an opportunity for you to delve into baskets of cloth scraps, explore her ongoing stitched pieces, and flip through colourful books of inspiration. Create a one-of-a-kind patch, make a fabric bead, contribute to a collaborative self-portrait artpiece, or just experience the joy of pulling a threaded needle through cloth!
Stephanie has been working with cloth, fibre and thread since early childhood, as a knitter, crocheter, handspinner, embroiderer, and maker of toys, dolls, clothing, and other household items. She is passionate about repurposing old linens and bringing thrifted or previously loved fabric back into use by creating quilts, journals, baskets, cards, and clothing.
Parents are asked to accompany their children to this experience to help with threading needles, using sharp tools, and helping small hands while sewing. Thank you!
